If only parents had as many arms as this Sierra backpack has pockets. About the same size as a college textbook backpack, this bag is made of a lightweight but sturdy canvas and features a big front pocket, three side pockets, and two small zippered pockets. Then there's the main open compartment which is lined with mesh on both sides to form smaller pockets. The backpack can be accessed either through the bag's open top or a handy zipper that runs up the back of the bag, right between the adjustable shoulder straps. An included 22-inch by 12-inch changing pad folds away inside the bag, next to a clear-plastic dirty duds bag. This smaller bag is sealable and can be completely removed from the main bag, but remains attached to it by a thin cord. The bag's side pockets and main flap are all fastened shut with Velcro, while the top of the bag can also be closed with a drawstring. The shoulder straps are soft and comfortable, but definitely meant for lugging baby gear from one spot to another rather than lengthy hikes. Surface wash only. --David Morel
