I have always thought that Avalon Organics was an honest and reliable company re their advertising claims and that they used natural ingredients. However, I was reading the ingredients on my bottle of Ylang Ylang Hand & Body lotion because the second one listed was cyclopentasiloxane and I had no idea what that was so I went on the internet to find out about it. It is a man made chemical and is tested on rats for liver toxicity and rabbits for skin reactions. Both reacted adversely. You can read about this testing on the "Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database" site. I am completely disgusted and horrified that Avalon Organics portrays itself as a "Consciousness in Cosmetics" company with their pledge and assurance that their products are, "safe effective pro-organic body care without artificial colors, synthetic fragrances or parabens." They also claim on the label that, "Our science-based body care products are not tested on animals." That's very misleading and devious advertising since perhaps THEY don't test on animals but they use ingredients that are. I am furious and will do everything I can to bring them to task over this.
