Being an avid book reader and a book hoarder I like to buy cheap. Thrift Books is cheap and fast with delivery. All of the books I've bought were in great condition and only .01 plus shipping. Cheap shipping,and I live all the way across the U.S. from them. Some books are more than .01 but almost everyone I've bought was only that much. I love them and order from them all the time.

Like the first reviewer when I discovered Thriftbooks.com I thought I had made a real find..unfortunately this site turned out to be a huge let down when it came to customer service. Yes they may have a huge selection of books at very low prices but they make their profits by charging an exorbitant shipping fee which have increased significantly in the last few months as I do not live in the US I am eligible for a $7.50 charge for each book. I understand that this is how such companies make their money my issue concerns the actual service they provide. After placing an initial order in May I had visited the site regularly adding certain books to my wishlist. At the beginning of October I received an email telling me that one of the books I had placed on my list was in stock so that evening I proceeded to place my order (even though the shipping cost had gone up by almost 60%) I would never have placed this order if the said book had not been in stock. After having given my credit card details I received confirmation of my order of 17 books and later that week confirmation that the 17 books had been shipped. When the package arrived some 4 weeks later I noted that it there was in fact one book missing, even though it stated on the outside of the package there was 17 books within. Of course the missing book just happened to be the very one which had been on my wishlist and had been informed that it was back in stock and the very reason why I placed the initial order. I emailed "customer service" that evening and asked that they send me on the book as was promised in the order confirmation email I had received. The reply I got back from the generically signed Thriftbooks.com was that I should have received an email telling me the book was out of stock and my credit card should have been refunded. Neither of which had that stage taken place. I asked them why did it appear on the shipping confirmation, they response email chose to ignore my question. Out of curiousity I checked the site for the book and found that they had in fact a copy in stock I emailed "customer service" and told them to send me on that copy as I did not want the refund just the book. But alas this was too much to ask, I was curtly informed that the credit card had been refunded and that should I wish to purchase the book I should place an order. By now I was quite irritated by the less than helpful responses and was getting the impression they found me quite bothersome so I asked for the name of the person I had been dealing with, I was not surprised to find that the response email was again a generic we aplologize...millions of customers etc etc sigend off by the generic Thriftbooks.com logo, if they treat all customers the same way I have been treated then it will not be long before they find themselves with fewer orders. I for one will not be using Thriftbooks.com again and if you value your money and expect any level of service you won't either.
