Rating: 1 starsPoor Poor customer service. No matter how nice the product, if the service is not there, I can't recommend the company.
HI: I did a search under VivaTerre trying to find something about the company itself and found this site. I thought you all might like to know my experience. I was in love with these items! I placed an order Sunday at 10 PM. Two of the three items aren't available for over 3 months??? So since they weren't open, I phoned at 8 AM Eastern time on MOnday to cancel all. I gave them system-issued order number and no one could find it. They said I could call back every hour if I liked. I said that since I have actually a LIFE and have to work, I asked that they just take care of it. The guy refused. I emailed. I received an automated response to phone the 800 number or they'd respond in 24 hours. I responded back that 24 hours is unacceptable and that I had phoned and the agent was ineffecitve. So....now 36 hours later, no response still and....I just now got a notification that they shipped ANYWAY, tho it's been cancelled in writing long ago. I phoned. Cust service person said she couldn't help me....that their system was set up so that they can't cancel now. I said "I cancelled at 8 AM on the 12th" and she said "well, we didn't have the order yet" I said , "Well, I emailed at 8:20 AM. You charged my card two hours later" she said "Well, I should've called earlier" WTF?????

Bottom line, this is in violation of their merchant account rules and I'm protesting and of course, I'm disputing the credit card bill. Since I'm out of the country as of Friday, this thing is going to sit on my porch for 10 days and will probably be stolen since we're on a busy street. These people can suffer the loss 'cause I have the proof that I cancelled and no one would take the responsibility of actually PROVIDING customer service.

Bottom Line? It's really pathetic that this country, with such cool items, has a standard, no-personal-responsibility policy with their employees or their operations.

I simply can advise everyone to be very careful. They do not support their product and do not provide customer service. It's all a scam. If a company doesn't not provide even the most basic customer service, if their systems don't perform and they are 'set up' to ignore customers and customer service, no good can ever come of this.

Throw away the catalog! Go to Gaiam or a REALLY well known company. Don't shop here.

Rating: 1 starsCustomer service? What's a customer? They don't seem to know OR care...cannot recommend!
I ordered my mother's birthday item 8 days before desired date, opted for "free 3-day shipping upgrade," placed order online. After receiving email confirmation of order, noticed no mention of shipping upgrade so I called the company's "customer service" (term VERY loosely applied here) and was assured by the gentleman w/ whom I spoke that yes, it would receive the upgraded shipping and yes, it would definitely arrive by my mother's birthday. Called "customer service"the morning of my mother's birthday to check on this. They had no record of my conversation w/ them earlier, item had only shipped the day before so obviously it wasn't going to be on time. NO apologies, no responsibility taken, no offer to make it right...basically it was tough sh*t...very unimpressed w/ attitiude. Almost exactly the same response from "customer service" manager. Couldn't even cancel order since it had already shipped. Never use Viva Terra if you need it in less than 2 weeks and don't order online...actually, just don't use this company! They were totolly uncaring!

Rating: 1 starsBad Service - Slow shipping
Twice I ordered from Viva Terra well in advance of Christmas - didn't even need to upgrade shipping. Except that 10 days after ordering the item still has not shipped and they can't tell me if it will ship today. In 48 hours they did not reply to my email and I had to wait 20 minutes on hold to talk to a customer service rep. Oh, they also can't cancel the order, even though it hasn't shipped?! I have to refuse it when it comes. The first time (two years ago) I forgave them - it happens. I will not be shopping with them anymore.

Rating: 1 starsInfuriating lack of customer service
This company is bad news, which is a terrible shame because it looks like they have good products. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY!! They have an almost-fraudulent way of doing business. I ordered 2 wooden cube-type ottomans, and was charged over $110 for shipping. When they arrived, they came inadequately packaged, without any padding. The cardboard boxes they came in were tattered and all the corners were torn. Both cubes were damaged beyond belief-- the corners were actually splintered, with multiple dents and gouges. Also, they were NOTHING LIKE THOSE PICTURED IN THE CATALOG. The cubes I received weren't even cubes-- they had beveled edges and were not even similar to what I ordered, including both shape and color. They were cheaply made and poorly finished, and covered with some sort of waxy material.
When I called customer service, they couldn't have been less helpful. The "supervisor" I eventually spoke to kept saying there was nothing that she could do. The only thing I could get them to agree to was to send prepaid shipping labels so i could ship the cubes back. She promised to talk with her "supervisor" and call me back. I never got a call back, and when I also never received the labels after 5 days, I called back and the labels hadn't been sent. The same "supervisor" told me she had tried to call me, but she "must have written the number down wrong". She also told me there would be a $10 charge for the "free" shipping labels.
